US President Joe Biden on May 1 called India, China, Japan and Russia xenophobic. According to Reuters, Biden said that the four countries are struggling economically as they are xenophobic and do not want immigrants.

“Why is China stalling so badly economically, why is Japan having trouble, why is Russia, why is India, because they are xenophobic. They don’t want immigrants. Immigrants are what makes us strong,” Biden remarked.

Biden, who is seeking a re-election this year, added that immigrants are what makes them strong.

The US President, who was speaking at a Washington fundraising event, further said that the economy is growing in the US because immigrants are welcome there.

“One of the reasons why our economy is growing is because of you and many others. Why? Because we welcome immigrants,” Biden said.

In the US presidential race, Biden is set to face Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump, who has promised to curb illegal immigration.
