Iran on April 13 launched an unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel. Hours later, the Israeli Defence Forces said that dozens of surface-to-surface missile launches from Iran were identified.
The Israeli military said that majority of the launches were successfully intercepted. The IDF added that a small number of hits were identified, including at a military base in southern Israel, where minor damage was caused to infrastructure.
The Iranian offensive comes days after its generals were killed in an Israeli strike in Syria.
The attack marked the first time Iran had ever launched a direct military assault on Israel, despite decades of enmity dating back to the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Israel and Iran have been on a collision course throughout Israel's six-month war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the White House said it will provide unspecified support for Israel's defense against an ongoing airborne attack from Iran.
