Indiaspora, a global non-profit representing the Indian diaspora, extended its congratulations to Donald Trump on his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States, expressing optimism for the future of US-India relations under his leadership.
"On behalf of Indiaspora and the Indian-American community, I congratulate Donald Trump as he begins his second term as president. I am confident that US-India relations will continue to thrive in the evolving political climate," said MR Rangaswami, founder-chairman of Indiaspora.
Rangaswami noted that during Trump’s first term, senior officials from both nations built robust ties, supported by strong bipartisan backing in the US to advance the bilateral relationship. In his new term, Trump has appointed several Indian-Americans to significant positions across fields such as civil rights, national security, and technology.
Notable appointees include Harmeet Kaur Dhillon, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kash Patel, Jay Bhattacharya, and Sriram Krishnan, reflecting the continued inclusion of Indian-Americans in senior government roles.
Sanjeev Joshipura, Indiaspora’s executive director, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to enhancing the Indian diaspora's civic and political engagement and strengthening US-India ties.
"It is encouraging to see successive administrations, regardless of party affiliation, appoint Indian-Americans to senior government roles. The Trump administration continues this tradition, and Indiaspora remains committed to fostering bilateral dialogue, as we did during the previous term in New Delhi and Houston," Joshipura said.
Indiaspora remains optimistic about contributing to further dialogue and collaboration between the two nations under the new administration.
