India set to finalise acquisition of 31 MQ-9B Predator drones from US by Oct 31

India is buying 31 MQ-9B military drones from the US and deal is set to be inked by October 31. India's Defence Ministry is set to approach the Cabinet Committee on Security for the acquisition of Predator drones.

The acquisition from US-based General Atomics being done on a government-to-government basis is reportedly worth USD 3.1 billion.

The MQ-9B drones can be armed with a variety of weaponry, including air-to-surface missiles and laser-guided bombs.

It will enhance capabilities of Indian Navy, Air Force and Army, allowing them to conduct precision strikes across land borders.

These Predator drones have proven record in the Middle-East and Afghanistan in taking out high-value targets.
