Months after losing the Prime Minister's throne, Pakistani politician Imran Khan has received a political boost.

The cricketer-turned-neta's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won by-elections in Pakistan's Punjab province, defeating those who toppled his government in a no-confidence motion.

The bypolls to 20 seats in Punjab Assembly were held on 17 July. According to initial results, Imran Khan's candidates won in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, and Khushabh, and were leading in 15 constituencies.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the party of Imran's successor Shehbaz Sharif reportedly "conceded defeat" and congratulated PTI. PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz called for introspection in the ruling party.

Imran Khan was dethroned as Pakistan's Prime Minister in April 2022, and a coalition of Opposition parties led by PML-N gained power.
