Govt warns Indians stuck in Sudan against going to embassy in person

The Centre has asked Indians stuck in Sudan not to approach the embassy in Khartoum in person as it is located in the fighting zone. 

We are counselling and telling them (Indians) how to stay safe. It's an evolving situation. The embassy is functioning, but we have told people not to go in person there as that zone is seeing a lot of fighting. People don't live there; nobody is inside embassy the building," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday. He added that all embassy staff are working from home. 

Fierce fighting erupted between Sudan's military and paramilitary on April 15 leading to death of nearly 300 people, according to reports.
