In a shocking incident, a far-right anti-Islam activist Michael Stürzenberger, 59, was stabbed multiple times by an assailant while he was preparing to address a small political rally of Citizens' Movement Pax Europa or BPE in Germany's Mannheim.

The assailant dressed in a black hooded jacket tackled Michael to the ground and swung the knife at him while the onlookers were left terrified and panicked.

As the other BPE members jumped to save Michael from the attacker, the attacker climbed on top of the victim's blood-drenched body and stabbed him a second time. The police immediately rushed to the spot, however, the attacker already had injured two people.

While one of the policemen tried to stop the knifemen, he failed to gain control over the weapon. The suspect then stabbed the policeman leaving him injured. Listening to the frantic cry of the injured cop, the other policeman warned the attacker to pull back.

After the attacker did not respond to the warnings, the officer shot him at close range.

The entire incident was streamed online on the BPE's YouTube channel. The video was later removed from the page.

Mannheim police in a statement confirmed the incident saying multiple people, including a policeman, were injured. The attacker was also injured.
