Deadly rail crash in Europe: over 25 dead, 80+ injured after passenger, freight trains collide in Greece

A major tragedy hit Greece on 1 March 2023 as a passenger train and a freight train collided in a fiery and deadly crash.

More than 25 people died and more than 80 were injured, as per initial reports.
The incident occurred near Tempe, 380 km north of Athens.

Several bogeys were derailed, and at least 3 burst into flames following the crash. Rescuers were seen battling with thick smoke to extract people from the wreckage.
