In a startling incident, a bullet pierced an airborne plane in Myanmar, and injured a passenger. The incident occurred on 30 September 2022 as a Myanmar National Airlines flight was preparing to land in Loikaw, the capital of the eastern state of Kayah, also known as Karenni.

The bullet passed through the plane's fuselage when it was at an altitude of 3,500 feet, and around 6.5 km north of the airport. A passenger suffered facial injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

Myanmar's military government blamed rebel groups for the attack. Officials said that the Karenni National Progressive Party and the People's Defense Force were behind the incident. However, rebel groups denied the allegations.

Myanmar's Kayah state has turned into a fierce battleground between the military and rebel groups since the military seized power in a coup in 2021.
