World Mental Health Day 2021: When faced with the uncertainty of a pandemic, fear and anxiety are quick to follow as a normal human response.
As per the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Covid-19 pandemic combined with isolation, loss of income, insomnia and anxiety has triggered numerous mental health conditions. And going by WHO estimates, depression is the leading mental illness globally.
Observed on 10th October each year, World Mental Health Day aims at making mental health care for all a reality. The day was first celebrated in 1992. World Mental Health Day looks at promoting global awareness of mental health concerns and generating support for quality mental health services.
According to WHO, the organisation of programmes targeted at vulnerable people, mental health interventions at work, early childhood interventions and violence prevention programmes are some of the steps that can be taken to help promote mental health care.
