Venkatesh Iyer, India's newest all-rounder who got his maiden call-up knows it very well that he has to focus on batting and bowling both for staying relevant. Iyer, the Madhya Pradesh based cricketer is set to done the Indian jersey for the first time against New Zealand in the 3 match T20 series starting November 17th. An elated 26-year-old said that his focus will be both, batting and bowling and that is what he has been doing since his age group state-level days. It has been my conscious effort to not be one dimensional, he said.

The Kolkata Knight Riders' player rose to prominence after he had an impressive outing in the cash-rich league. Along with amassing 370 runs, he also took 3 wickets.

'If you have to play for India, you have to be consistent across formats and that's why I have put in a lot of work in both the departments of the game', he added.
