Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer feels that he will be fit to play the second part of the Indian Premier League but he isn't sure about getting his captaincy back. The 26-year-old was ruled out of IPL 2021 when he injured his shoulder in the series vs England and needed surgery. In his absence, Rishabh Pant took over the captaincy duties for the Delhi based team in IPL. Iyer now feels that he will be ready to play IPL and needs a little over a month to return to action but the decision about DC's captaincy lies in the hands of the owners.
Under Shreyas Iyer's leadership, Delhi Capitals finished as runners-up in the 2020 edition after losing to Mumbai Indians in the final.
