Wife of TMC candidate Kajal Sinha who died due to Covid-19 on April 25 has filed a case of culpable homicide against deputy election commissioner Sudip Jain.

Nandita Sinha in her complaint filed at Kolkata's Khardah police station has said that the poll panel is solely liable for her husband's death as it didn't ensure the safety of the candidates or general public while holding election amid a pandemic. Sinha added that EC intentionally failed to take steps to ensure Covid SOPs are not flouted during rallies and campaigns.

She stated that negligent actions or inactions by the EC had led to the demise of her husband. Nandita Sinha further slammed the EC for holding elections in Bengal in 8 phases while other states voted in either 3 or 1 phase.
