Weight lifting better than walking or cycling, for the heart: Study

You may have to re-think your fitness regime if this new study is anything to go by. According to research by St. George's University in Grenada, weight lifting is more beneficial than dynamic activities like cycling or walking, in preventing heart diseases. The study included 4,086 adults and cardiovascular risk factors like high blood pressure were analysed. It also suggests that stationary activities like strength training, reduces the risk of heart diseases more strongly than walking or cycling since expenditure of oxygen is more intense.
