Ram Mandir: all you need to know about new 'Ram Lalla' idol

'Ram Lalla'

The idol is of a 5-year-old Ram and has been made using a dark-coloured stone. It's height is 51 inches.

Who carved it?

Karnataka's Arun Yogiraj sculpted the idol for Ayodhya's Ram temple.

Where will it be placed?

The idol has been installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple. The consecration ceremony is on January 22.

Specially designed

Idol has been designed with the guidance of scientists to ensure that on Ram Navami, sunlight directly falls on Ram's forehead at noon.

Selection process

3 idols were short-listed for the new temple. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust members voted to select the final idol.

The Ram Lalla idol is adorned with a bow and arrow. Crafted by three selected artisans, idols are made of Shyam Shila stone and white marble.

Durability of idol

Designed for longevity, the idol is expected to endure for the next 1,000 years without requiring restoration.
