JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar CM for the ninth time after joining hands with BJP on Jan 28.

2013: JD(U) breaks alliance with BJP

When NDA chose then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as PM face for 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar ended ties with BJP.

2015: Union of RJD and JD(U)

In Nov 2015, Nitish joined hands with Lalu Prasad-led RJD and Congress to form a “Grand Alliance” and took oath as CM.

2017: JD(U) re-united with BJP

Several factors led Nitish to end ties with RJD, including the CBI probe against Lalu Yadav and his family in alleged land-for-job scam, and join BJP.

2022: Nitish dumps BJP again

Nitish Kumar ended ties with BJP and returned to the 'Mahagathbandhan'. He helped create INDIA bloc to fight BJP.

2024: Nitish shocks INDIA bloc

Blaming INDIA bloc's inactivity in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, Nitish once again ditched the Opposition and returned to the NDA fold.
