To address the “declining physical standards among officers” and “rise of lifestyle diseases”, Army has brought new policy.

Punishment for overweight

Punishment for overweight personnel with no improvement within 30 days.

APAC

It also mandates the maintenance of an Army Physical Fitness Assessment card (APAC) for each individual.

New requirements

The new rules specify required height-weight ratio for various age groups.

Age group 28-32 years

For height 170 cm: minimum weight - 55.8 kg, maximum weight - 68.2 kg. For height 180 cm: minimum weight - 63.5 kg, maximum weight - 77.6kg

Age group 33-37 years

For height 170 cm: minimum weight - 57.6 kg, maximum weight - 70.4 kg. For height 180 cm: minimum weight - 65.3 kg, maximum weight - 80 kg

Age group 38-42 years

For height 170 cm: minimum weight - 58.1 kg, maximum weight -71 kg. For height 180 cm: minimum weight - 66 kg, maximum weight - 80.3 kg

Age group 43-47 years

For height 170 cm: minimum weight - 59 kg, maximum weight - 71.5 kg. For height 180 cm: minimum weight - 66.6 kg, maximum weight - 81.4 kg

Age group 48 and above

For height 170 cm: minimum weight - 59 kg, maximum weight - 72.1 kg. For height 180 cm: minimum weight - 67.1 kg, maximum weight - 82 kg
