Nitish Kumar took oath as chief minister of Bihar for the ninth time on January 28, along with two deputy chief ministers from BJP.
Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary and the former leader of the opposition in state assembly Vijay Sinha took oath as Deputy CMs.
Choudhary, who joined BJP in 2017, was elected as leader of BJP legislature party on Jan 28 and was appointed as Bihar's deputy CM.
Choudhary was a minister in the RJD-led govt in 2005. He joined the JD(U) in 2014.
Choudhary was made BJP’s state chief in March 2023.
Choudhary has been a vocal critic of Nitish Kumar but now has to work under his leadership.
Choudhary had started wearing a turban after Nitish Kumar ditched the BJP in 2022 and said he will take it off only after Nitish resigns as CM.
Starting off as a grassroots BJP worker, Sinha made his debut in the assembly in 2010.
Sinha belongs to the Bhumihar community and was an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the RSS' student wing.
Vijay Sinha, 55, earlier served as the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from November 25, 2020, to August 24, 2022.
