Watch the prices rise! Amazon to increase annual prime membership fee steeply

Another expense in the midst of the festive season, Amazon has announced it will increase the price of its Amazon Prime subscription service in India five years after its launch and here's all you need to know: 

  • As a result of the update, the annual Amazon Prime membership will be available at Rs. 1,499, up from the existing Rs. 999
  • The quarterly plan will be priced at Rs 459 instead of Rs 329

  • It is suggested the monthly Amazon Prime plan will now be priced at Rs 179 as opposed to the earlier price of Rs 129
  • However, there's no word on when the new prices will come into effect, but it may happen soon. Amazon's website still lists the old prices.

The Amazon Prime membership has been among the most cost-effective packages in recent years, offering the Prime Video, Prime Music and Prime service on Amazon for ₹ 999 per year
