In a poignant moment, union minister Hardeep Singh Puri received three copies of Guru Granth Sahib at Delhi airport brought from Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Three copies of the Granth Sahib were brought by Afghan Sikhs who were evacuated by India from Kabul and landed in Delhi on Tuesday morning.
A video from the airport showed the union minister carrying the Granth Sahib on his head and walking barefoot.
MoS MEA V Muraleedharan and BJP leader RP Singh were also Delhi airport with Puri to receive the copies of the Sikh holy book.
A batch of 78 people evacuated from Kabul landed in Delhi from Dushanbe where they were flown in first from Afghanistan.
The passengers included both Indian and Afghan nationals.
India has been evacuating its nationals and also Afghan Sikhs and Hindus from Kabul after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan on August 15. Over 700 people, including some Afghan lawmakers, have been brought to Delhi as part of the evacuation mission.
