Amid the record surge in Covid-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a meeting to review the situation. Top officers across various ministries participated in the meeting.

Amid various states raising concern over the shortage of oxygen and hospital beds, PTI reported that various aspects related to medicines, oxygen, ventilators and vaccination were discussed at the meeting.

Asking local administrations to be proactive and sensitive to people's concerns, PM Modi said there is a need to utilise full potential of India's pharma industry to meet rising demand of various medicines.

He also asked the officers to utilise entire national capacity to ramp up vaccine production. He also called for close coordination with states in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
