The Pentagon on Monday released footage of US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against Iran-backed militia groups. The release of footage has come at the critical moment when there is a talk of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and is expected to disturb fragile diplomatic scene.

The Biden administration said that the Sunday’s “defensive precision airstrikes” targeted weapons storage facilities in Syria and another location in Iraq.

Sunday’s strikes were the second time President Joe Biden has ordered a US military response in the region against Iranian-backed militia groups.

On Monday, a spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation in Iraq confirmed that American forces in Syria were attacked by multiple rockets in what may be retaliation for US airstrikes.
