The US is looking at joint production of Johnson and Johnson's Covid-19 vaccine in India and also ways to help manufacturers like the Serum Institute of India (SII) to boost production, US’ Charge D'Affaires Daniel Smith said on Tuesday.

Smith said the US stockpile of AstraZeneca vaccines can’t be shared with other countries till the jabs are certified as safe and effective by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because of problems associated with the plant that manufactured them.

Smith further added the US was concerned over the current Covid-19 situation in India and reiterated that the Biden administration was standing with New Delhi to help deal with the crisis.
