Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met Union home minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi.

During his visit to the national capital, Adityanath is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda on Friday.

The meeting is significant in the backdrop of dissent rumours in UP ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in 2022.

This is Adityanath's first face-time with BJP top brass since turmoil started last month, with a section criticising the government's handling of Covid and the impact it may have on the party in the polls

The criticism has become a concern for the BJP high command and led to intense speculations about a rejig of the party organisation and the induction of a few new faces in the state council of ministers.
