Amid the pandemic scare, the United Nations officially celebrated its 75th year on Monday largely through a virtual meeting. While Secretary-General Antonio Guterres gave his speech from the podium, most of the world leaders had sent in pre-recorded speeches to commemorate the occasion. Expressing his regrets about not having an in-person event, Gueterres said that the pandemic had exposed the world's fragilities. He said that today the world has a surplus of multilateral challenges but a deficit of multilateral solution. Apparently, President Donald Trump who would have been the first to speak among the heads of the states did not send his recorded speech for the event. The international organisation of 193 nations was founded in 1945 following the horrors of World War II
