The UK drug regulator on Friday approved the use of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose Covid-19 vaccine for use. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is the fourth vaccine to be used in the UK to protect against Covid-19 and order for twenty million doses have been placed, which will be delivered later this year.
Earlier in April, the European Medicines Agency had said that a warning about unusual blood clots with low blood platelet count should be added to the J&J product information following cases in the United States. The vaccine was found to be 72% effective in preventing moderate to severe coronavirus infections, according to a US trial.
