Acting on a complaint from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights which cited availability of links and material pertaining to child exploitation, the Delhi Police Cyber Cell has registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO Act and Information Technology Act against Twitter.
Delhi Police Spokesperson Chinmoy Biswal said that the complaint was made against Twitter Inc and Twitter Communication India Private Ltd.
The complaint is the latest addition to a series of controversies Twitter India is embroiled in.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary panel for IT headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor directed the secretariat to seek in writing from Twitter on what basis Twitter accounts of IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad & Shashi Tharoor were blocked.
