Trump sues U.S. House committee investigating Capitol Hill attack

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol, alleging it made an illegal request for his White House records.

Trump has claimed in his lawsuit that the information sought by the U.S. House of Representatives' panel comes under executive privilege which protects the confidentiality of some communications between White House officials.

Some legal experts in the country have however said that Trump cannot use executive privilege as former president. 

A huge mob of Trump supporters had breached the Capitol Hill on January 6 this year to stop the U.S. Congress from certifying Joe Biden as the country's president.
