Union Home Minister Amit Shah met a delegation of Trinamool Congress  MPs in Delhi on Monday regarding reports of religious violence in Tripura and allegations of brutality being faced by TMC workers at the hands of Tripura Police.

Earlier in the day, the TMC MPs had held a sit-in protest outside the Home Minister's residence and demanded an appointment with him.

TMC MP Saugata Ray said the protests were also against the arrest of party’s youth leader Sayani Ghosh in Tripura.

The party alleged "mayhem" in BJP-ruled Tripura as Ghosh was arrested by the police and accused of attempt to murder.
