• MAHARASHTRA BUILDS 3.23 LAKH HOMES UNDER MAHA AWAS ABHIYAN
At the virtual inauguration of Maha Awas Abhiyan-Rural , CM Uddhav Thackeray said that the state rural development department has set a target of constructing 8 lakh houses within 100 days, among which 3.23 houses have already been built, and rest in process to come up within a month.
• TAMIL NADU CONSTRUCTION BODY URGES STATE TO REGULATE BUILDING MATERIAL PRICES
The Tamil Nadu All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Construction Workers Association wrote to the Chief Minister, M K Stalin, requesting him to find a way to regulate the prices of construction materials. They mentioned that the increasing prices have made it difficult for the small-time contractors and builders to complete the projects, leaving a lot of construction workers out of jobs.
• UP GOVT APPROVES CONSTRUCTION OF BUS STATION IN AYODHYA AT RS 400 CR
The transport department will be given nine acres of land from the culture department to build the bus station. From this station, buses will run between Ayodhya and all major cities of the state. Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh also mentioned that the state has also approved a proposal to construct a 4 lane flyover on the Ayodhya-Sultanpur road.
• BEML HITS HIGHEST EVER TURNOVER AT RS 3,557 CR
Despite covid-induced interruptions and reduction of economic operations, the Bengaluru-based firm said it performed well. Their turnover increased by 17% compared to FY20’s total of Rs 3,029 crore. In a statement, the company reported that its profit before taxes was Rs 93 crore, up 285% over the previous year.
• MUMBAI IDENTIFIES 407 UNSAFE AND DILAPIDATED STRUCTURES FOR DEMOLITION
322 of these “dangerous” structures are privately owned, 59 are owned by the BMC, and the remaining 26 are owned by the state government. BMC officials told the media nearly 150 unsafe and shaky structures have been demolished, and 112 have their power and water shut off. The residents have filed a lawsuit to prevent the demolition of 73 dilapidated buildings.
