Tokyo Olympics: Country celebrates javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra's historic win

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on Saturday made history as he became the first Indian to win Olympic gold medal in athletics.

Congratulatory messages poured after Chopra’s big win at the Tokyo Olympics. Words of praise came in from all quarters.

Expressing joy at the achievement, President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted from his official handle, celebrating the ‘unprecedented win’. PM Modi congratulated Chopra and wrote "history has been scripted"

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij broke into dance as Chopra, a native of Panipat, won the first Gold medal for India at Tokyo Olympics

Celebrations are in full swing in Chopra’s hometown where people have gathered in large numbers at his residence and are seen celebrating with the tri-colour and cheering Chopra on.

Meanwhile, Haryana CM ML Khattar has declared Neeraj Chopra will be given Rs 6 crore, a class I category job and also a plot with 50% concession.
