Tokyo Olympics 2020: The Opening Ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will start at 4:30 pm IST and will be telecast on Sony Sports Network, Sony Liv App as well as Doordarshan. The Indian Contingent will be led by Hockey Captain Manpreet Singh and celebrated boxer MC Mary Kom.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and fear, no more than 30 athletes and a few officials will be participating at the Opening Ceremony behind the Indian flag.

Most nations are also curtailing their numbers at the Opening Ceremony like Britain which is only allowing 10% of the strong 375+ contingent to march at the event. Tokyo is gearing up for a 'sobering' opening ceremony with the ongoing Covid-19 crisis in the country.

The traditional mass choreography & other events have been cancelled by the organisers as the world battles the pandemic.
