Tokyo Olympics 2020: Major upset for India as Mary Kom crashes out

A split decision of 3-2 spoilt the nation's mood on an otherwise brilliant day at the Olympics as Mary Kom was knocked out of the opening round in the Women's flyweight category. Fighting against Colombia's Ingrit Valencia, Mary Kom lost the opening round as the Colombian who is five years younger was quicker off the blocks.

The 38-year-old 6-time World Champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist fought back to take round 2. The final round then went in favour of the Colombia boxer who won a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Games. The split decision broke a billion Indian hearts as Mary's journey at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics came to a grinding halt.
