Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Aussies in isolation after an American athlete tests positive

American world champion pole vaulter Sam Kendricks tested positive for Covid-19 and will now miss the Olympics. The athlete was practising in Tokyo ahead of the athletics events which are set to begin soon and as a result, many who came in close contact with the American have been put in isolation. 

The entire Australian Track and Field team was placed in isolation on Thursday in the Tokyo Games Village. Athletics Australia confirmed the development and said that due to the positive test, the entire contingent is isolating as per Olympic guidelines.

There are a total of 63 athletes from Australia's track and field team who are in isolation and rigorous testing will be conducted before they are allowed to participate as the qualification events and heats will begin in Tokyo for athletics from Saturday.
