TMC petitions LS speaker for disqualification of 2 MPs who joined BJP

Sudip Bandyopadhyay, the leader of the Trinamool Congress in Lok Sabha on Monday called up speaker Om Birla seeking disqualification of Sunil Mondal and Sisir Adhikari who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party before the recent Bengal assembly polls.

The Hindustan Times reported that the TMC leader asked the speaker to take action on the petitions he had filed earlier.

Bandyopadhyay said the speaker told him that he will form a committee to review the petitions for disqualification and ask the two MPs to appear before it.

The development comes 50 BJP MLAs in Bengal met governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and demanded that any MLA who joins the TMC should face action under the anti-defection law passed by the Parliament.
