There's been a lot of discussion about the importance of talking to children about sex but having a conversation about drug use is just as important, if not more!

Mental Health Therapist Shamin Mehrotra talks about the role of parents and caregivers in establishing open channels of communication about drug use and addiction.

There has been an argument for both sex-ed and discussing drugs that if you talk about it, children may want to indulge in these habits more. However, Mehrotra explains that children will find out about it any way but they may not find the right information.

This is why it is important to make children aware about the pros, cons and most importantly, the consequences of everything. By talking about substance use, abuse and addiction openly, you can create a safe space for your children to discuss these things with you before it's too late.
