WhatsApp users have long demanded the ability to transfer chat history across Android and iPhone devices. While this feature was not available for quite some time, recently WhatsApp has rolled out transfer of chat history from iOS to Android.
Android users can currently transfer their chat history from iOS devices, if they are switching. However, those switching from Android to iOS did not have the ability to transfer their chat history until now.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, that may now change. WhatsApp for iOS beta version 22.2.74 contains references to the ability to import chat history from an Android device. The report contains a screenshot from a user who has seen this feature, where a prompt asks users upon setup if they want to transfer chat history from Android.
However, the feature is currently not available even for beta users. It may currently be in internal testing, and thus it might take some time for the feature to be available to the public.
WhatsApp chat history transfer from iOS to Android devices was first launched for Samsung phones in August. In October, Google Pixel phones also got this feature. It is also available for devices that run Android 12.
