Twitter is officially testing a new feature called Notes which will allow users to write up to 2,500 words.
Currently, people on Twitter have to post pictures with text or rely on external links if they want to make an announcement that’s longer than the platform’s 280-character limit.
Twitter apparently does not like this as it can often steer users away from the platform.
"Since the company's earliest days, writers have depended on Twitter to share their work, get noticed, be read, create conversation - everything but the actual writing," the company said in its statement. “With Notes, the goal is to fill in that missing piece.”

It is important to note that Notes will not be Tweets, but will be attached to Tweets instead. This long-form content can have tweets, videos and images embedded in it.
Twitter is collaborating with a handful of users in the UK, USA, Canada and Ghana to develop the new feature.
It is still not known when this feature will be released to everyone.
