Samsung is flipping the switch on 3D gaming with its latest launch—the Odyssey 3D (G90XF). This isn’t just another gaming monitor. It delivers a glasses-free 3D experience using a clever combo of eye-tracking tech and visual trickery. That means no clunky glasses, no extra gear, and no headaches—just you, the screen, and an immersive 3D world.

How does Samsung’s glasses-free 3D tech even work?

The tech behind the Odyssey 3D relies on binocular disparity—basically, how your brain processes depth by comparing slightly different views from each eye. The Odyssey 3D mimics this effect by tracking your eyes and displaying different visuals for each eye in real time. A pair of stereo cameras on the top bezel follow your eye movements, even if you’re wearing glasses, and map out where you’re looking.

That info is then used to adjust the display using a system Samsung calls view mapping. A special lenticular lens then directs each image precisely to your left and right eyes, creating that 3D illusion. No funky glasses required, and the effect follows you as you move.

Three core tech working together

At the heart of the experience is the synergy between eye tracking, view mapping, and the lenticular lens. Together, they let the monitor adapt dynamically to your movements. The result is a smooth, depth-filled image that doesn’t fall apart when you shift your head—even during intense gameplay. And when you’re not using 3D mode, the lenticular lens deactivates, turning the Odyssey 3D into a regular high-performance gaming monitor with fast response times and killer visuals.

Designed to reduce visual fatigue

Samsung also made sure to tackle the usual 3D headaches like crosstalk—the weird blur effect when both images don’t line up properly. The monitor is calibrated after assembly and uses a smart deep learning-based eye-tracking algorithm to keep visuals aligned. There’s even a special coating on the display to cut down on glare and distortion, making everything feel sharper and easier on the eyes.

Why this monitor could change the game

With Odyssey 3D, Samsung isn’t just showing off—it’s pushing the future of gaming displays. Whether you’re in the mood for full-blown 3D immersion or just want buttery-smooth 2D performance, this monitor promises to deliver both. And it might just mark the start of a whole new era for PC gaming setups.
