According to a Bloomberg report, Instagram is reportedly developing a text-based app to rival Twitter, with a potential release date in June. The company is currently testing the product with influencers and creators. Meta has reached out to talent agencies and celebrities to gauge their interest in trying an early version of the app, which will be integrated with Instagram. The new app, separate from Instagram but compatible with other apps like Mastodon, allows users to connect accounts and share texts, links, photos, and videos with friends. Fans can easily follow their favourite influencers and creators with a single tap. The app is also focusing on enhancing security measures, including carrying over blocked accounts from Instagram, and is working on compatibility with Mastodon.
