Reddit's new API policy will start charging third-party app developers steep fees on July 1; as a result, well-known apps like Sync for Reddit and Reddit is Fun are going out of business.

These Android apps have millions of downloads and are favoured by Reddit's most active users.

Under the new rules, third-party Reddit apps cannot run ads and face other restrictions as well.

Even Apollo, an iOS-exclusive app that generates significant income, would have had to pay $20 million yearly.
