A team of engineers at University of California San Diego has created a low-cost, easy-to-use blood pressure monitoring device that can be attached to a smartphone.

The device currently costs around 80 cents to make, but the researchers believe it could be manufactured at scale for as little as 10 cents per unit.

The device could help make regular blood pressure monitoring more accessible to people in resource-poor communities.
