Okay, Samsung, what are you up to? Just when everyone thought Galaxy Unpacked 2025 had wrapped, Samsung pulled off a sneaky mic-drop moment—a teaser for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Here’s my first take on the Galaxy S25 Edge, why it’s both exciting and slightly puzzling, and an update: you can check out our first look video above this article.
So, the Galaxy S25 Edge is seriously thin. Rumors have been swirling about a 6.4mm profile. For context, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is 8.2mm. That might not sound like a huge difference, but trust me, in person, it’s like comparing a pancake to a waffle.
However, here’s the catch—while the body is sleek, the camera bump is huge. And since the phone is so slim, the bump stands out even more. For comparison, the rumored iPhone 17 Air is tipped to be even skinnier at just 5.5mm, but that’s still unconfirmed gossip.
Let’s address the elephant—or in this case, the missing camera—in the room. If this design is final, the S25 Edge only has two rear cameras, while its S25 siblings all pack three (or four for the Ultra). Most likely, you’re getting a main camera plus an ultra-wide lens.
Samsung might be banking on the 200MP main sensor to handle digital zoom. (Side note: The rumored iPhone 17 Air might only have one rear camera, so there’s that.)
Rumor has it the Galaxy S25 Edge will sport a 6.7-inch display, matching the S25 Plus but smaller than the Ultra’s 6.9 inches. This could also be Samsung’s first phone with a tandem OLED display. Translation: thinner screen tech with brighter visuals.
Apple did something similar with the iPad Pro M4, and if Samsung follows suit, it could make this phone look extra sharp.
We don’t have a release date yet, but May 2025 is the word on the street. That’d slot it between the regular S25 lineup and the Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7, which are expected to drop in late July.
According to reports, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be priced in India between ₹94,800 and ₹1,03,426.
This is where things get somewhat confusing. Samsung’s older “Edge” phones had curved screens, but this one is flat. Apparently, “Edge” now just means “thin.” Cool, I guess?
And, of course, the S25 Edge does somewhat resemble the iPhone 16. To be fair, it does feel like Samsung is prepping for a showdown with the rumored iPhone 17 Air.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is a head-turner, no doubt. But this teaser might leave potential S25 Ultra buyers stuck in a weird limbo. Do they upgrade now or wait for more Edge details?
Either way, Samsung’s playing the long game, and we’ll have to wait and see how it all pans out.
