Apple fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the launch of the iPhone 15 Series, set to take place in September at Apple's annual Fall Event.

Speculations and leaks about the upcoming flagship series have been surfacing, with the latest reports suggesting a few design changes and the inclusion of a USB Type-C port.

This move is believed to align with both regulatory requirements and the company's goal of embracing the potential of USB Type-C technology across its products.

The iPhone 15 Series is expected to introduce a fresh design aesthetic, characterized by slimmer bezels. Numerous renders have already surfaced, providing a glimpse into the upcoming devices' sleeker appearance.

iPhone 15 Pro leaked images

Renowned tipster, Ice Universe, has shared intriguing images of what appears to be a dummy unit of the iPhone 15 Pro.

These images showcase a USB Type-C port, potentially indicating Apple's transition from its proprietary Lightning port to the more ubiquitous USB Type-C standard. However, it's important to approach these leaks with caution.

iPhone 15 series: USB-C port more or less confirmed

In 2020, the European Union (EU) implemented a mandate stating that all devices with wired charging must feature a USB Type-C port, with enforcement starting in Autumn 2024.

Apple may choose to adopt USB Type-C early to allow ample time to overcome any challenges before the deadline. The company has already incorporated USB Type-C in its iPads, and there are indications that the upcoming AirPods Pro may follow suit.

USB Type-C offers several advantages over Apple's current Lightning port. Firstly, it complies with the latest USB 4.0 standards, providing faster data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps, in contrast to Lightning's maximum speed of 480Mbps.

This notable disparity in speed highlights the potential for an 80-fold improvement by adopting USB Type-C. Moreover, the universality of USB Type-C makes it more convenient for users, as it is compatible with various devices and allows for a single cable solution for multiple purposes.

Apart from regulatory requirements, Apple recognizes the immense potential of USB Type-C. The existing Lightning port has served the company well for almost a decade, but technology evolves rapidly, and USB Type-C has become the industry standard.

Additionally, the move to USB Type-C allows Apple to explore new possibilities and enhance user experiences with faster data transfer and improved connectivity.
