Gaming company appoints AI bot as CEO

Hong Kong-based gaming company NetDragon Websoft appointed an AI chatbot named Tang Yu as its CEO with typical duties including reviewing analytics, making executive decisions, assessing risks and fostering an efficient workplace.

The company said the AI CEO will play a crucial role in transforming corporate management, reducing workload, increasing efficiencies, and enabling effective decision-making that improves operational performance.

Following the appointment, the company did really well on the Hong Kong stock exchange, generating a current market capitalisation of approximately $1.1 billion. 

The move supports the company's ambition to become a "metaverse organisation" and expand its algorithms behind Tang Yu to build an open, interactive and transparent management model.
