Researchers have uncovered a sophisticated new malware named DogeRAT, which uses fake Android apps to steal sensitive information and compromise victims' device security.

The malware is distributed via social media and messaging platforms, disguised as a legitimate mobile application. DogeRAT malware is open-source Android malware which targets various industries such as banking, financial services and insurance, e-commerce, and entertainment.

Once installed, it gains unauthorised access and starts collecting sensitive information including contacts, messages, and banking credentials.

The malware can even take control of the infected device enabling malicious actions like sending spam messages, unauthorised payments and remotely capturing photos through the device’s cameras.
