According to New York Times, Apple has ended its consulting deal with Jony Ive, the former in charge of the company’s design.

He was a close friend of the late CEO Steve Jobs and was in charge of designing the company's most legendary designs which include the original iPhone and iPod.

Jony Ive left Apple in 2019. Since then, he has been indirectly working with Apple via his new product design company.

The company's contract with Apple was recently up for renewal and both sides allegedly have agreed not to renew it.

The contract is said to have stopped Ive from doing work that Apple thought was too similar to its own. Ive wanted to be able to work with clients without getting permission from Apple.

Also, some Apple executives were unhappy with several of their designers leaving Apple to work for Ive's company.
