Mark Gurman, Bloomberg's famed Apple analyst, claims that Apple will unveil the second iteration of the AirPods Pro during its "Far Out" event on September 7.
While we've been anticipating the AirPods Pro 2 to be released this year, this is the first credible report suggesting that they might be released as early as this week.
The new AirPods Pro will replace a model that went on sale for the first time in October 2019.
According to rumours, the AirPods Pro 2 will have a number of advancements, including the latest version of Apple's H audio chip.
Apple's Lossless Music Codec (ALAC), which ditches Bluetooth completely, or the addition of Bluetooth 5.2 capability, which utilises the LC3 codec to transfer audio more effectively, might also improve sound quality.
The AirPods Pro 2 may also mimic the in-ear wing tip design of the Beats Fit Pro, and the charging case may produce a sound when Apple's Find My app is used to locate it.
In addition to the new AirPods Pro, Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 14 series and three new watches, including an expensive "rugged" model for those who engage in extreme sports, at its event.
