The Mint reports that Tata Sons is now the front-runner to buy state-run Air India, and is likely to submit the financial bid as early as this month.

Pension liability, ownership of real estate were some of the points that required clarity for the Tata Group and reports indicate the govt has provided the required information.

With a loss of Rs 10,000 cr for the last fiscal the Govt is keen to close the sale of the Maharaja by June else they would be forced to shut down operations for the national carrier.
