A Taliban spokesman on Friday said that China has promised to keep its embassy in Afghanistan open and to increase humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged country.
A member of the Taliban's political office in Doha held a telephonic conversation with China’s Deputy Foreign Minister, spokesman Suhail Shaheen tweeted to announce.
This comes days after the United States fully withdrew its troops from Afghanistan and as much of the world adopts a wait-and-see approach to engage with the Taliban which is now set to become the governing power.
China has mentioned earlier that it is ready to deepen "friendly and cooperative" relations with the Taliban following their takeover
Spokesman Shaheen further wrote that ‘the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister has said that their relations would beef up as compared to the past’ and that ‘Afghanistan can play an important role in security and development of the region’.

China's embassy in Kabul remains operational, although Beijing began evacuating Chinese citizens from the country months ago as security deteriorated.
However, Beijing has not yet recognised the Taliban as the de facto government and is wary of the terrorist group providing support to Muslim-minority Uyghur separatists.
